Live Broadcast Tonight, Remote Live Broadcasts from Fantasticon this Weekend and More for 11/2/2015

This is going to be a crazy week. We’ve got episode 116 of our weekly live podcast broadcast taking place tonight with our guests from the Bartech Group, Detroit is Different, and Fantasticon…and they’re joining us since we’re taking the entire Podcast Detroit crowd out to their convention this weekend for a whole series of live broadcasts and recordings, panel discussions and more.  We’ve also got some blog entries for you, past episodes you can catch up on (including not one, but two, from last week), shenanigans on our Facebook page and all sorts of other stuff, so let’s get to some details…

EventNewspaper_november2015As always, we start with the information for our next upcoming in-person networking event.

For November’s event, we’re back in the familiar stomping grounds of the back room of the Blackfinn in Royal Oak.  5pm start time.  No sales pitches, no agendas, no speakers…just great networking and relationship building with some of the best and brightest folks in the metro Detroit information technology community.

So join us there on Thursday, November 18th.  Details can be found here on the site –, on our Facebook page –, or in our Meetup group –

We’ve also got our December charity event on the books as well, so mark your calendars for that, too.  Details are at those same locations.

ITintheDnewspaper11022015Naturally, we’ll be talking about those events and more tonight during episode 116.

We’re joined by The Bartech Group and Detroit is Different, as well as our usual roundup of events, news, items of interest and anything else that’s caught our eye over the past week.

Mics go live at 9pm like always, so join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show…and our phone line is up and operational as well.  We love audience participation, so come along and play with us!

S3-EP6-Tix-image-300x150The other guest that will be joining us tonight is on of the organizers of Fantasticon.  Their convention is this weekend out at Gibralter Trade Center in Mount Clemens, and we’ll be there all weekend long, as well as many of the other shows from Podcast Detroit, to do some live broadcasts and recordings from the show, as well as doing a couple of events and panel discussions.  Our friends from Nerd Life Productions will be running a “Nerdy Flirty Speed Dating” event on Saturday at 5:00 (think “sort of like speed dating, but it’s people at a con, so you know they’re in your demographic” as a basis for comparison), and we’ll be doing a “So You Want to Start a Podcast” session on Sunday at 2pm, where we’ll be talking about all of our lessons learned over the past couple of years from our beginnings to the new studio to launching a network.

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500So…yeah.  It’s going to be a jam packed night…and week  Listen live to hear it all happen…and as mentioned up above, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way.  You can find those apps here:  As our network continues to grow, mature, and add new shows, we’ll be re-purposing the IT in the D stream and app space for a second Podcast Detroit broadcasting avenue, so you might as well start listening there now.

As mentioned earlier, we had two episodes (one full, one short) go live.  We had our normal Monday night episode with our guests from Interworks, Digerati Girls, and Arrow Strategies…though Steve was in talking more about the Capuchin fundraiser event…and you can find that episode here:

And then we did a special one-off, Devil’s Night episode with our friends from Activ8 Gaming and Daily Detroit, and you can catch that at
