Intro to Test-Driven Development

TECH SKILLS TRACK

Session date: Monday, July 17 @ 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

WHY TEST-DRIVEN DEVELOPMENT?
New to Test-Driven Development? Not sure what TDD is? Think test-drivers are crazy? We have the introductory TDD workshop for you! The purpose this this workshop is to introduce you to the basic concepts to TDD and increase your understanding of what you can gain by test-driving your code. Additionally you will pick up on other agile methodologies like pair-programming and thin-slicing your projects.
This class will be taught in JavaScript, but because the focus of this class is test-driven development, not JavaScript you do not need an extensive background in JS to participate in this workshop. There will also be examples in C# and Java.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
We’ll mix lecture and practice, and we’ll work through lots of problems together.

PREREQUISITES:
Either prior experience in any programming language, or minimal experience in JavaScript.

WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring your laptop and charger to all class sessions. Power strips & Wi-Fi will be provided.

PRE-CLASS SETUP?
Please have a text editor (we recommend VS Code), and node.js installed on your laptop prior to class.
