This is an introductory workshop for Android development, which will introduce you to what you need to start programming in Android. Together, we will build a Twitter client from the ground up.
This is an 8-hour hands-on workshop If you understand the basics of programming, but you want to get started with developing Android apps, then this is the workshop for you. Students should be familiar with object-oriented programming.

We will help you install the required software for the class during the class, but you may need to bring your Android phone or Tablet to work with.

Nariman Ammar is a PhD candidate in Computer science at Wayne State University. Her research interests are in service computing, with a special interest in privacy while sharing data on the web. She is currently working on developing a framework for guaranteeing privacy for mobile and web Applications. She has participated in several programs that teach girls how to build phone apps in addition to other applications.
Talia Selitsky is a mobile developer based in Detroit. She recently worked at Ford developing apps for in-vehicle systems. She is also an app developer for Photosynq, an open-research project that focuses on developing open-hardware solutions for measuring plant-health.

There are several flat-fee private parking lots available across from the office on Randolph St. Metered street parking is available on Randolph and adjacent streets. Additional parking is available one block away at the Detroit Opera House parking structure.
