As an official heads-up, there’s another good reason to take it easy Thursday night…

Consider this my Public Service Announcement for the year 🙂 Well, we told you that you should take it easy when drinking at networking events with the 10 Commandments of Networking: http://www.ITinTheD.com/68/the-ten-commandments-of-networking/, and then you got a cautionary tale with Drunk Guy: http://www.ITinTheD.com/86/drunk-guy/ …and with the state police launching a “massive” crackdown on drunk driving:
http://www.freep.com/article/20100817/NEWS06/100817018/1322/State-police-to-launch-massive-drunken-driving-crackdown, one would assume that Royal Oak (and everywhere around Woodward Ave) will be targeted. As always, know your limits, take it easy, and if all else fails, call The Designate (http://www.thedesignate.com/)  to get you home.  And nope, that’s not an ad or a plug.  I’ve actually used them before.  It might cost you a few $20’s to get home…but that’s a lot fewer $20’s than the lawyer and court will require.  Live to network another day, without thousands of dollars in fines and potentially taking the chance of injuring/killing yourself or someone else.

So, if you’re coming to our event tonight…and we hope to see you there…keep that in mind.

We’ve got a rather interesting conversation going on in the LinkedIn group right now – http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=91763:  “What type of offenses would you not hire a candidate if it came up on their background check? Example: bankruptcy, drug violations”  Kind of an interesting set of viewpoints going on, and in particular some input from those in HR would be most welcome.
