News, Jobs, Updates and More for October 12, 2011

Well, let’s see what we’ve got going on this time around…

We had a really cool success story come in from our last Pink Slip Party (we always love those), we’ve got our event next Thursday night at the Dragonmead Brewery, we’re having way too much fun with our new How Not To Suck articles with a new one about developers live and about eight hundred more in discussion, there are a bunch of jobs sitting in the LinkedIn Group as well as a cool discussions taking place, and we’re kicking around ideas for December and starting to get things put together for 2012.

Yes, we’re still making plans for 2012, even though the same idiot is blathering on again that “Rapture Day” will be taking place the day after our Dragonmead Brewery event.  Yeah, October 21st is his new, New, NEW “I swear, I had my got-his-degree-from-the-internet Accountant double check my numbers” official target date according to his math.

To be safe, and cover our bases, we’re recommending the “Final Absolution” Belgian Ale at our event on the 20th

So, let’s start with that event on Thursday, October 20th at the Dragonmead Brewery in Warren.  You can find details on our site at (wow…I still really have to get better about editing permalinks to be shorter…) or out on LinkedIn at Check it out, give it a look, and we’ll see you there.  There’s a video in the description on our site if you want to check it out.

Remember – be safe.  “Final Absolution” Ale is the key.

I mentioned that we’re having a lot of fun with our How Not To Suck entries lately.  If you haven’t checked them out yet, they’re sitting at and the latest addition is How Not To Suck…At Being A Developer out at  In case you missed the earlier entries, we’ve got How Not To Suck…At Facebook and How Not To Suck…At Networking out there as well.

It’s always nice to hear when our events work, and this note that came in from someone that got hired as a result of our last Pink Slip Party was a great read.  It’s out at

Jobs, as always, can be found in “Career Discussions” under the Jobs tab within our LinkedIn group, or by clicking here

Discussions can always be found just by heading into the group, which you can find here –

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 20th.

And, for the record, after the 21st as well.

But we’ll still be drinking that Final Absolution…

That’s all for this time!
