Falling Down Beer Company and Charity Event Updates Tonight, Event Thursday Night and More for 12/5/2016

It’s almost here…our annual charity fundraiser event.  We’re working with the same group we have for the last few years, and even if you can’t make it, you an still donate online.  We’re also locking down our 2017 calendar of events, and along the way, we made some tweaks to our “Meet” tab that will help you find other events in the area that we think might be of benefit to you.  We also have some blog entries for you, our past episodes to catch up on, the usual nonsense from our Facebook wall, and more…

1962288_642048052604371_1910472353081442468_oOur next in-person event is our annual charity fundraiser event, working with the folks behind Operation Kid Equip to ensure that the same kids who face challenges here in the area during the school year are able to have a good holiday season as well.

It will take place this Thursday, December 8th, starting at 5pm over at Falling Down Beer Company at 10 and Dequinder in Warren, MI.  One of the owners, Mark, will be on our show tonight to talk about their expansion in Oxford and more, as well as our event Thursday night.

The really big push for the charity this year is running a house that provides a temporary home for women and children in dire situations – victims of domestic abuse that are kicked out of their homes, or escape from the situation, and need someplace to go. Cash donations are going to be especially appreciated and put to good use by the group, though of course they’re still doing the toy drive as well – they’re just looking to do more for those in need, and we definitely want to support them. If you want to make a cash donation in advance, you can do so at https://ubm.wildapricot.org/page-18106

Here’s the kicker to make it more “real” for you – their average operational budget is $33 per day. You can sponsor a day at this home for people in dire situations…for $33. You can even pick a date, and do it in memory of someone, or for a particular reason, and have that noted as well. $33, folks. That’s all it takes to keep people off the streets for one night. Do it.

itinthednewspaper12052016Of course we’ll be talking about that tonight during episode 174 of our weekly live podcast from our Podcast Detroit studios.

After our opening segment with the usual events, news items, and mayhem that have caught our eye over the previous week, this one’s going to pretty much be all about our event Thursday night.  We’re being joined in-studio by both the charity that we’re dealing with and Mark from Falling Down Beer Company.  So you’ll be able to hear all about what this charity is and does, along with everything that Falling Down has going on, including their expansion into Oxford and more.

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500Also on the Podcast Detroit front, our new studio in downtown Detroit is up and running along with the three in our Royal Oak facility.  We’ve opened up this new facility in order to better serve the businesses downtown who have said they’d like to use our studio, but didn’t really want to send their folks off to Royal Oak for a few hours mid-day, which we can totally understand.  So now we’re up and running downtown as well.

For details on what we’re doing down in the Penobscot building, please see our announcement at http://www.podcastdetroit.com/podcast-detroit-expands-opens-studio-downtown/
