Automation Alley, Maker Faire, E-Nable Tonight, Event Thursday and More for 7/18/2016

Tonight is episode 154 of the IT in the D podcast broadcasting live from Podcast Detroit, and we’ve got Automation Alley and returning guest Daniel Dugan joining us.  We’ve got our casual networking event this Thursday night downtown at Firebird Tavern, a few blog entries for you to read, our latest episodes for you to catch up on and more…

936607_642041869271656_6062023938263438088_nAs always, we start with our next upcoming in-person networking event.  This Thursday, July 21, we’ll be upstairs at Firebird Tavern downtown.  Great place, and we’ve loved the events we’ve done there thus far, and can’t wait for everyone to come out for another one.

Details for that event…and all of the others we do…can be found here on the site –, on our Facebook page –, or in our Meetup group –

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

13592157_1153711898003908_4518594599642947725_nWe’ve also scheduled round 2 of our Metro Detroit Podcasters Meetup.

As you’re no doubt aware, we run the Podcast Detroit network, and we were asked why we weren’t doing meetups for podcasters like we do for the IT industry, and so we decided to give it a shot.  The first one was an overwhelming success, so if you’re into podcasting, wanting to start a show, already running a show at home, in a studio, or anywhere else, we’d love to have you come out and join us for some drinks, video games, and good conversations.  Details can be found at

1654950_372542482888264_1077180589_oAnd don’t forget, our next Pink Slip Party event is just around the corner.  These are significantly larger than our monthly casual events and have seen over 1,000 people show up.  We started accepting sponsors for these a few years ago when we had to move to larger venues downtown in order to handle the crowds that showed up, but we still deliberately limit participation to four companies just to cover the costs.  Our sponsors are the only ones with a table and larger presence at the event, and over the years, it seems to work out well for them.  Drop us a note and let’s talk about getting you setup:

ITintheDnewspaper07182016Of course we’ll be mentioning all of that tonight during episode 154 of the IT in the D podcast broadcastsing live from the Podcast Detroit studios tonight.

We’re being joined tonight by Automation Alley, and repeat guest Daniel Dugan.

So you’ll be hearing a lot about initiatives around the area, as well as upcoming events like Maker Faire and SteamCon, not to mention e-nable, that cool place that does artificial limbs for children that we met at Penguicon in 2015.

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500…as always, you should listen live to hear it all…and as we keep telling you, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way.  You can find those apps here:  The app was just recently updated to make finding out information about new shows, as well as catching show archives, a lot easier.

The mics go live starting at 9pm, and we hope you join us.

You can also catch any of our episodes you may have missed over at, including last week’s with Hatch Detroit and Jena Irene Asciutto at
