Live Show Tomorrow (Tuesday) Night, Podcaster Meetup, Event Updates and More for 7/4/2016

It’s the 4th of July, so we hope everyone’s having a fun, safe, and relaxing holiday weekend.  There won’t be a new episode of the IT in the D podcast tonight, but we will be live tomorrow night to bring you our usual great conversation with guests and random mayhem.  In case you missed it, Bob and Dave were on an episode of Comcast Newsmakers talking about the group and more.  We’ve also scheduled the next Metro Detroit Podcasters Meetup, and we’ve got our own casual networking event a couple weeks away downtown, plus a few blog entries, fun on our Facebook page and more…

936607_642041869271656_6062023938263438088_nAs always, we start with our next upcoming in-person networking event.  On Thursday, July 21 we’ll be upstairs at Firebird Tavern downtown.  Great place, and we’ve loved the events we’ve done there thus far, and can’t wait for everyone to come out for another one.

Details for that event…and all of the others we do…can be found here on the site –, on our Facebook page –, or in our Meetup group –

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

13592157_1153711898003908_4518594599642947725_nWe’ve also scheduled round 2 of our Metro Detroit Podcasters Meetup.

As you’re no doubt aware, we run the Podcast Detroit network, and we were asked why we weren’t doing meetups for podcasters like we do for the IT industry, and so we decided to give it a shot.  The first one was an overwhelming success, so if you’re into podcasting, wanting to start a show, already running a show at home, in a studio, or anywhere else, we’d love to have you come out and join us for some drinks, video games, and good conversations.  Details can be found at

1654950_372542482888264_1077180589_oAnd don’t forget, our next Pink Slip Party event is just around the corner.  These are significantly larger than our monthly casual events and have seen over 1,000 people show up.  We started accepting sponsors for these a few years ago when we had to move to larger venues downtown in order to handle the crowds that showed up, but we still deliberately limit participation to four companies just to cover the costs.  Our sponsors are the only ones with a table and larger presence at the event, and over the years, it seems to work out well for them.  Drop us a note and let’s talk about getting you setup:

ITintheDnewspaper07052016Now, as mentioned at the top, we’re not live tonight since we’re taking the holiday off to relax, but we are in studio tomorrow night for our show.

And we’ll be joined by our friends Jer from Daily Detroit and Billy from Social Coop Media.  In addition to the usual round up of events, news, and items that have caught our eye…as well as the things we’ve already mentioned up above…we’ll be talking about the latest news about the metro Detroit area, the ins and outs of social media, and probably giving a plug or two towards a new show coming your way soon.

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500…as always, you should listen live to hear it all…and as we keep telling you, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way.  You can find those apps here:  The app was just recently updated to make finding out information about new shows, as well as catching show archives, a lot easier.

The mics go live starting at 9pm, and we hope you join us.

You can also catch any of our episodes you may have missed over at, including last week’s with Seven Point Two Tours and Vault of Midnight at

13473732_10210067075053349_61091382_nAlso on the podcast front, want to hear something fun?  We kicked off “Worst Meatball Sandwich Ever”: Vegans who go to classy steak joints and whine about the lack of non-meat options. People who go to dive bars and are stunned they can’t get bottle service. Idiots who go to a brewery and are mad they can’t get a Bud Light. You know who they are…and so does the crew behind Worst Meatball Sandwich Ever Podcast, and they’re going to hold these special little snowflakes up to the harsh light of reality and hopefully have a few laughs along the way.  We’re three episodes in now, and have covered people who don’t seem to understand the concepts of “Can’t miss places”, brew pubs, and slider joints. Give it a listen out at
