Motor City Comic Con, DPS, More Guests, More Mayhem, More Everything for 5/9/2016

It’s almost here…Motor City Comic Con.  Tonight’s episode of the IT in the D podcast broadcasting from the Podcast Detroit studio…at least the current one…is chock full of information, guests and goodness.  And yes, you read that right…the current one.  We announced some news last week about our expansion to a new studio location as we add more capacity for new shows.  That got announced during our Metro Detroit Podcdasters Meetup this past Thursday, and it was perfect.  We’ve also got our next casual networking event taking place downtown next week, some blog entries for you to read, and all of the usual fun and chaos you’ve come to expect from us…

1480646_642039669271876_72352798784544374_n (1)Like always, we start with our next in-person event.  We survived Penguicon, and assuming we make it through Motor City Comic Con in one piece, we’ll be seeing you on Thursday, May 21st in the Huma Room (the upstairs bar) at Hopcat.

5pm start time.  No agendas.  No speakers.  No sales pitches.

Just good, solid networking opportunities with some of the best and brightest folks in and around the metro Detroit information technology scene.

Details can be found here on the site – https://itinthed.com/meet/, on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group – http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/

ITintheDnewspaper05092016bWe’ll be talking about that, along with a whole lot of other topics tonight for episode 143 of our weekly live podcast broadcast.

You’ve undoubtedly heard about the chaos with Detroit Public Schools, but what isn’t the news telling you?  What’s really going on in the teacher’s minds, and what’s really behind the scenes?  We’ve got a teacher joining us to talk through the situation from her point of view and lay a little knowledge down on us.

mcccbooths2Then add in some more guests from Motor City Comic Con, and we’ve got ourselves a show.  Naturally, we’re talking Motor City Comic Con again, and you can check us out in booths 1527 and 1626 all weekend long!

Yep, we picked up booths.  We’re bringing a whole bunch of shows with us, doing live broadcasts, interviews, and all of the usual nonsense we get up to when it comes to this event every year.  Get your tickets and come hang out with us: https://motorcitycomiccon.com/tickets-and-packages/

13173736_10153853587302639_6535498396238958275_nOur good friend Ming Chen from AMC’s Comic Book Men and the Ming and Mike Show will join us to talk about coming back home to Metro Detroit for the con, as well as everything going on back in Red Bank, NJ.  We ran into Ming and Mike last year, hit it off, and we’ve had a great time chatting ever since.  Their show airs on our Podcast Detroit network, and we’re looking forward to hanging out with them while they’re in town.  Listen in to hear what Ming and Mike have been up to, and what they’ve got in store for everyone at Motor City Comic Con.

13183032_859597304150956_928164275_nIvy Doomkitty will be coming on as well.  Ivy is an International Costumer/Cosplayer, Host, Artist, Gamer, and Figure Model for comic book artist/writer, Frank Cho, based in Los Angeles. Ivy has been an avid fan of comics and gaming since childhood and became aware of comic book conventions 11 years ago and began attending them as an attendee. Ivy was also featured as a GUEST JUDGE on several episodes of the Syfy Original Series, “Heroes of Cosplay”.

JohnELTenneyHeadshot1Last but not least, John E.L. Tenney is one of the most well-recognized investigators of UFO, Paranormal and Occult phenomena in America. All that and more on episode 143 of tonight’s IT in the D show.

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500…as always, you should listen live to hear it all…and as we keep telling you, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way.  You can find those apps here: http://www.podcastdetroit.com/how-to-listen/  The app was just recently updated to make finding out information about new shows, as well as catching show archives, a lot easier.

You can also catch any of our episodes you may have missed over at https://itinthed.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/, including last week’s over at https://itinthed.com/18649/episode-142-william-davis-x-files-ost-usa-local-apparel-daniel-phillips-alloy-ash/

13173961_1112645882110510_3329695647621378574_nAlso on the podcast front, we had a blast at last week’s Metro Detroit Podcaster Meetup.  Dozens and dozens and dozens of podcasters, people wanting to start podcasting, and those just curious about podcasting showed up at Activ8 gaming to hang out, talk, share ideas and have a few drinks.  It was an absolute blast, and we couldn’t be happier about the fact that we didn’t know like 70% of the people who showed up…at least not at the start of the night.  We also announced our upcoming move and studio expansion.  There’s a whole lot of information over at http://www.podcastdetroit.com/podcast-detroit-expansion-update-its-happening/, but long story short, we’re expanding to our own dedicated building and multiple studios.  And we’re doing so quickly.

On the blogs front, it’s that time of year again, so don’t be the Unprepared Graduatehttps://itinthed.com/1784/the-unprepared-graduate/
