We’ve got a little bit of something for everyone tonight on episode 138 of the IT in the D podcast coming at you live from the Podcast Detroit studio. Diversity in tech, events coming up here in the metro Detroit area that you’ll want to know about, a professional wrestler who’s been everywhere from the local indy scene to the WWE is running for office locally and will probably break a few pre-conceived notions you have. All that and more as Visit Detroit, Terrance Gerin (aka “Rhino” or “Rhyno”) and Andre Arbelaez join us tonight. Of course we’ve got blog entries for you to read, the usual mayhem on our Facebook page and more…
As always, we start with our next upcoming in-person networking event. After a great event last Thursday at the Majestic, we’re heading back to our home base of the back room of the Blackfinn in Royal Oak on Thursday, April 21st. 5:01pm start time, no agendas, no sales pitches, just some networking with some of the best folks here in the metro Detroit area’s information technology community.
Dan joins us from Visit Detroit (aka the metro Detroit Convention and Visitor’s Bureau) for a repeat visit, and what we’re hoping will work out as a regular monthly segment, to discuss upcoming events in and around the metro Detroit area that might be of particular interest to you, our listeners. We’ve also got Andre Arbelaez joining us. As the President of HITEC (the Hispanic IT Executive Council), he’s very involved with diversity in the technology industry, inclusion, helping techies getting engaged with public boards and more. Our last guest is Terrance Gerin, who many people are more likely to know as “Rhino” or “Rhyno”, his professional wrestling name. However, he’s now taking a step into the political ring with a run for State Representative, and while yes, we may be biased because of our affiliation with the wrestling world…trust us when we tell you that listening to him speak on topics is going to open your eyes and probably blow you away more than a little bit.
