Women in Art, Modeling, and Writing Tonight, December Event Updates and More for 11/23/2015

For episode 119 of our weekly podcast live broadcast, we’re lucky enough to be joined tonight by model and artist Hollie Ogden, author and writer Kasey Pierce, and artist Kelly O’Hara – three ladies doing and involved with all sorts of great things around the area that you should know about.  We’ve also got some updates on our December 10th event at Falling Down Beer Company, a few blog entries for you to check out,  and all the usual fun and excitement that you’ve come to expect…

xmasevent2015As always, we kick this update off with information about our next in-person networking event…and it’s one we look forward to every year.

It’s our annual, end of the year fundraising event to support a local charity.

This year, we’re working with Operation Kid Equip again, in order to help ensure that local kids right here in the area that don’t necessarily live in the best of circumstances have a decent holiday season.  OKE already has a list of about a thousand kids right here in the metro Detroit area that need our help…so let’s see how many of those kids we can cross off their list.

EventNewspaper_december2015On Thursday, December 10th, bring a new, unwrapped toy, cash, or checks (made payable to Operation Kid Equip) to Falling Down Beer Company at 2270 East 10 Mile Road in Warren, MI starting at 5pm and help us do this.  Best part? Not only are you helping this awesome cause, but since they’re a 501c3, all donations are completely tax deductible.  That’s right, all of you people and companies looking for some last-minute write-offs…here you go.

Details can be found here on the site – https://itinthed.com/meet/, on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group – http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/

ITintheDnewspaper1123b2015Of course we’ll be talking about that event during tonight’s episode 119 of our weekly podcast’s live broadcast.

As we mentioned up in the opening, we’re being  joined tonight by model and artist Hollie Ogden, author and writer Kasey Pierce, and artist Kelly O’Hara.  Kelly‘s responsible for the awesome Big Trouble in Little China art in our studio that many of you have seen (plus the KISS pieces, plus the Princess Leia piece, plus…yeah, we may like her work a little bit…), Kasey is a horror author that’ll put your brain on overdrive and keep you from wanting to turn off the lights, and Hollie is both a model and an artist working that you may recognize from the Metro Times Summer Guide cover among other things.

Mics go live at 9pm like always, so join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show…and our phone line is up and operational as well.  We love audience participation, so come along and play with us!

PD_mic_Twitter_500x500Listen live to hear it all happen…and as mentioned up above, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way.  You can find those apps here: http://www.podcastdetroit.com/how-to-listen/  As our network continues to grow, mature, and add new shows, we’ll be re-purposing the IT in the D stream and app space for a second Podcast Detroit broadcasting avenue, so you might as well start listening there now, because that’s where we’re focusing our efforts.  Plus, you can get some exposure to other great shows on our network.

podcastdetroititunesAnd in case you haven’t been paying attention, we’ve got a pretty damn solid lineup of shows running these days that hit just about any area of interest.  Like sports?  We’ve got Gridiron, the guy who sings “Forward Down the Field” during Lions games live every Monday, and if you’re looking for an edgier point of view we’ve got Detroit Sports Rag live every Tuesday…or maybe MMA and boxing are more your thing, and we’ve got Undercard: Hand Combat Radio also on Tuesday nights.  Want to learn more about, and keep up to speed with, the latest security topics?  We’ve got repeat former guest Wolfgang Goerlich and the EncodeDecode security podcast.  The CEO of VizBe, Natalia Petraszczuk, and her show Eye Am bring you some unique perspectives on reaching your goals and some very cool local businesses.  As mentioned up above, Ming and Mike of AMC’s Comic Book Men have joined us with whole show about a wide variety of topics geeks want to catch…

Simply put, with over 30 shows running, there’s something for everyone.  Check out the entire lineup at http://www.podcastdetroit.com/artist/ and start listening.
