We’ve got an incredibly packed house for tonight’s live broadcast, we’ve got events booked out through September, there are a few blog entries you should catch up on, you can win a $100 Amazon gift card by helping us out with our advertisers, and in case you weren’t at our event this past Wednesday night at Stray Cat Lounge, you might have missed an announcement as we yet again listen to people and are getting pulled in still yet another new direction that we weren’t planning on going in…
Let’s start with our events, and we’ll go from there…
Sticking with trend and tradition, it will take place in the familiar stomping grounds of the back room of the Blackfinn in Royal Oak.
5pm start time. No cover charge to get in. No speeches. No agenda. No sales pitches. Just networking with some of the best and brightest folks here in and around the metro Detroit information technology community.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
We had a great time last week at Stray Cat Lounge, not just for our event, but also doing a live remote broadcast celebrating the two year anniversary of our very first broadcast back on June 3, 2013. It’s been a crazy ride so far, and it’s only going to get crazier in the coming weeks as we announced at that event that we’re going to be launching a network. It wasn’t our plan or intention to go down this road, but we’ve had enough people in and around the industry approach us about starting their own show(s) that we feel like we’d be letting people down if we didn’t. We’ve got the studio, we’ve got the technology, and we’ve already screwed up just about every way you can…so why not let people take advantage of all of our missteps and come out of the gate roaring and ready?
No, it’s not going to be named “the IT in the D network”. Much like the name “IT in the D” came about because we were going to branch out and do something new, it’s time for a new name for this new venture as well. We’re not quite ready to unveil the new name just yet…but we will be soon. Think you might be interested in launching a show? Drop us a note at http://www.itinthed.com/contact-us/ while we’re working up an announcement post with some more details and we’ll start talking.
That, like our events, will almost assuredly be topics of discussion during tonight’s live broadcast. We’re at episode 95, and we’re joined tonight by our friends at the Detroit Beer Press, the good folks at Batch Brewing (who you may or may not remember being on way back in episode 10 of our show, when they were still a Hatch Detroit finalist), the Deputy Director of Civic Tech for the City of Detroit (wow, that’s a mouthful of a title) to talk about the upcoming #Hack4Detroit event finding better ways to use the data available in / around / about the city, and then we’ve also got Kevin Hill coming in to talk about his perspectives on the Detroit tech scene after the start of that chat at our Hopcat event was awfully interesting.
And it’s a good thing that we’re now fully up and operational with amazing draft beer from our friends at Falling Down Beer Company. Currently stocked with Scurvy Dan, their Blood Orange IPA, you can expect to hear about that tonight, too.
All of the usual ways to listen live apply, but we’ve added another one to make it even easier for you – we have our own app now. Our app can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yesstreaming.itinthed
That one’s really simple. Install it…and click play. Boom. You’re done. That’s all, it’s really just that easy.
Mics go live at 9pm like always, so join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show. Blogs? Oh yeah, we’ve got some blog entries for you.
There’s a huge difference between “giving some constructive criticism” and “being a raging jerk”. You should definitely know that by now, but there are still some who don’t. So check out http://www.itinthed.com/17294/constructive-criticism-vs-being-a-jerk/ and make sure you don’t find yourself alienating those you might be wanting to help out.
