0

We’ve got one of our live broadcasts tonight with Mack Avenue Media, Daily Detroit, and Major General Amy Courter joining us, an event this Wednesday night at Stray Cat Lounge where on top of our usual hijinks and mayhem we’ll be doing a live remote broadcast of our show, some blog entries for you to read covering how not to suck, why there are a ton of parallels between networking, dating and your job search and tons more.

So on to some details…

11012131_372449489620864_4649625602233314875_nOur next casual networking event of 2015 happens this Wednesday night…yes, WEDNESDAY and not a Thursday since our events the first week of the month always happen on a Wednesday to try and help out those who can’t make it on Thursdays…at Stray Cat Lounge in Clinton Township.

Cigar, scotch, martinis, lots of local microbrews, and just a great place in general.  You should absolutely plan on being there.

Details can be found here on the site – http://www.itinthed.com/meet/, on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group – http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/

Also there, you’ll see an event bring run by one of our sponsors, Online Tech, regarding security and the cloud.  If that’s something you’re interested in, you should check it out at http://web.onlinetech.com/metro-detroit-cloud-security-workshop

11096612_564135800395597_1338068454219752949_nAnd speaking of live broadcasts, you’ll definitely be hearing more about that event during tonight’s show.  We’re live with episode 94 tonight from 9pm to 11pm with our guests Emily Alber of Mack Avenue Media, Major General Amy Courter from Youngsoft, and Jeremiah from Daily Detroit.  Emily’s a first-timer who we’ve hung out with before, and the other two have already been guests with us in the past, and so we expect a great flow of conversations and information tonight.

All of the usual ways to listen live apply, but we’ve added another one to make it even easier for you – we have our own app now. Our app can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yesstreaming.itinthed

20150525_215224That one’s really simple.  Install it…and click play.  Boom.  You’re done.  That’s all, it’s really just that easy.

Mics go live at 9pm like always, and we’ve got clearly some great guests and conversations lined up.  So join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show.  We love audience participation, so come along and play with us!  Not sure how to listen live?  We’ve got instructions for you over here: http://www.itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/.  You can catch last week’s episode over at http://www.itinthed.com/17213/episode-93-social-coop-media-long-neck-strangler/

step123podcastHow Not To Suck at Starting a Podcast, Part 1 is out at http://www.itinthed.com/17228/how-not-to-suck-at-starting-a-podcast-part-1/, and it walks you through some of the early decisions you need to make about running a podcast if you decide that’s something you want to take on.  Having a game plan, the importance of a community, all that and more, so it’s definitely worth a read.

Penny-leonard-big-bang-theoryThe Awkward Proposal is one of our Dating Corollary series of entries, and this one specifically talks about how to handle things when you’re not on the same page in your relationship as the other person is…which in this case might be an employee or your employer.  You can catch that at http://www.itinthed.com/4128/the-dating-corollary-the-awkward-proposal-moment/

missing-the-point-1217616401646160-9-thumbnail-4Missing the Point Guy is one from our Don’t Be That Guy series, and it’s a nice little look why you shouldn’t be closed-minded about getting approached about things…and I guess it actually could be a “Dating Corollary” as well, now that I think about it.  Go check that out at http://www.itinthed.com/1268/dont-be-that-guy-missing-the-point-guy/

Even though he’s gone, Suh-Suh-Sudio is a good lesson in the context of Suh, the Lions, and how you handle yourself in a team at http://www.itinthed.com/14233/dont-be-that-guy-suh-suh-suhdio/

Another Dating Corollary entry, this one about knowing who you are, who you aren’t, and how to handle unreasonable expectations can be found in Stop Trying To Change Me at http://www.itinthed.com/3528/the-dating-corollary-stop-trying-to-change-me/
