Everything You Need To Know About Our Pink Slip Party Next Week and More

It’s just about that time again.  The resumes are starting to come in.  We’re getting the badges queued up for recruiters.  The venue is prepped.  The media’s started asking questions.  I’ve developed the usual twitch over my left eye wondering what we’re forgetting.

Pink Slip Party time.  Twice a year, we get some of the best companies here in the area to sponsor our efforts to help improve things for professionals in and around the metro Detroit information technology community.  We take over a larger than normal venue, and we focus our efforts on helping people find jobs.

We’ve also got our live broadcast tonight, a whole bunch of blog entries for you, and a whole bunch more.

So let’s talk about everything you need to know about these Pink Slip Party events, as well as everything else we’ve got going on leading up to it…

3128831335_ee4a19a557Let’s cover the basics first.

Thursday, September 18th.

5pm.

2013-10-30-11165_162653281663_1196605_n1The Majestic is located at 4120 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.

It’s an awesome venue with a lot of history…and let’s just make sure you noticed that there’s a venue change: we know the last few of these have been over at St Andrews.  We’re not there this time.  We’re at The Majestic.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASay it with me: “The…Majestic”.

We’re incredibly excited to move over to this new venue, and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone there.

However, as we said, none of this would be possible without our sponsors.

And who are our sponsors this time around?

Arrow Strategies: http://arrowstrategies.com/

Brightwing: http://www.gobrightwing.com/

So, the Pink Slip Party itself.  What do you need to know?  Lucky for you, we’ve answered that question a few times.  Check out the Frequently Asked Questions at https://itinthed.com/faq/

Main_1280x540_1_ListenWant to learn more?  Well, we have our live broadcast tonight, and you can be sure that’ll be a topic.  Somewhere in between discussing the latest on the celebrity photo leak and talking with our guests, we’ll find time to talk about the Pink Slip Party, I’m sure.  So you should probably listen.  You can find out all about our show at https://itinthed.com/listen/, and we even have handy dandy “How to Listen” instructions at https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/

All of our past shows can be found on our archives at https://itinthed.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/, or out on Soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/itinthed, or any of the other methods out at https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/

09082014We’ve got two great guests joining us as well for tonight’s episode – we’re joined by Gerald Smith, the Senior Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs for Comcast’s Heartland region, and Michael Mode, an entrepreneur, a speaker, and oh yeah…he’s also a magician.

Gerald is joining us to talk about Comcast’s “Internet Essentials” program providing up to six months of free high-speed Internet service to low-income families with school-aged children – continuing at a discounted $9.95 a month after the free period. Additionally, families have the option to purchase a computer for less than $150; and multiple options for digital literacy training in print, online, and in-person.

Michael is joining us to talk about his various business endeavors, lessons learned, and…and I promised him I wouldn’t make any corny “magic in your own life” jokes…
