Crossing The Streams, Your Saturday Night Plans, Events, Updates and More

In the immortal words of Michael Buffer…

“Let’s get ready to ruuuuummmmmmmbllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllle!”

We’re officially crossing the streams on tonight’s live broadcast, and it’s for a hell of a good cause.  And it’s something new and different to do with your Saturday night.  And there’s national pride on the line.  Plus, there’s drinking.

We’ll get back to that in a moment.

Naturally, there’s some new stuff out here for you to read, the latest episode of our live broadcast is out and live, and we’re about three weeks away from our next in-person get together for our casual networking event at Blackfinn.

And that’s just scratching the surface…

IMG_20140417_183507_131Let’s talk about our next upcoming event to kick things off.

Thursday, July 17th.

Back at our home base in the back room of the Blackfinn in Royal Oak.

All of the usual details apply.

5pm start time, and we’ll be there until at least 8pm or later.

No cover charge to get in, no speakers, no agenda…just solid networking with some of the best and brightest folks in and around the metro Detroit information technology community.

Hope to see you there.

Looking for updates on our events?  We’ve got a calendar here on the site at http://www.ITinTheD.com/meet/, and you can also keep up to speed on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group at http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/

borderwars2_flyer21In case you don’t feel like waiting three weeks for a dose of us, we’ve got our live broadcast tonight.

And oh, is tonight gonna be a fun one.

Bob and Dave have hinted now and then about their secret addiction to the local indy wrestling scene.

Well…cards on table, it’s a little more than an addiction.  They’ve actually gotten involved on the business side of the longest running professional circuit here in Michigan, and helped put together something for this Saturday that you need to seriously consider going to.

July 1st (tomorrow) is Canada Day.  We all know that Friday, July 4th is Independence Day here in the U.S.

So the guys from XICW have put together BEST IN DETROIT VI: Border Wars, which will be a throwdown between some of the best talent here in the metro Detroit area and the same from across the border.

mfe_oke_logoAnd even better, the whole thing is being done as a charity benefit for a familiar name – Operation: Kid Equip.

We’ve done drives and events for them before, and they’re a hell of a good cause.  There’s really nothing better than helping kids, and that’s what they’re all about.

rumbleheaderSo here’s what you do.  You listen live to us tonight and you hear the details.  You head on over to XICW’s website and you buy tickets.  And then you join Bob and Dave on Saturday night for a hellaciously good time.

Tune in tonight live from 9pm to 11pm to hear everything going on as it happens, and don’t forget that you can call in to chat with us during the show at 313.462.0107, or hit us up on Twitter at @ITinTheD.

Looking for details on the show?  Check out our Listen page at https://itinthed.com/listen/.  Not sure how to listen live?  Got you covered with our How To Listen page at https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/.  Want to catch up on some past episodes?  They’re all here on our Show Archives page at https://itinthed.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/.  They’re all also out on iTunes, Stitcher, Soundcloud and a few other places, but that’s all covered on our How To Listen page, too.

Last week’s show is live and available if you’re looking to let us in your ears before tonight.  As we knew we would, we got into the whole David vs Goliath issue (which you should read if you haven’t already done so) which got a little ranty…but it’s merited.  The good folks over at Spincard took a run at convincing us that business cards need to go away and that their app is the way to go.  Rifino from Valentine Distilling was in to remind everyone that they’re not just vodka, as well as to talk about what they’ve got going on at their location in Ferndale.  Andre Arbelaez, President of the Hispanic IT Executive Council also joined us to talk about their initiatives and his take on the industry here in the area.

Want some reading material?  We’ve got that, too.

Dewey-Beats-TrumanI’m horrifically annoyed by the media these days, and not just because of our own recent issues.  I can’t be the only one…can I? Not Necessarily the News is out at https://itinthed.com/15175/not-necessarily-the-news/ and you should read it and chime in.

Don’t Be That Guy: Rude to the Secretary Guy is out at https://itinthed.com/2615/dont-be-that-guy-rude-to-the-secretary-guy/, and contains some pretty good advice for how you handle yourself from the moment you walk in the door at an interview or meeting.

The links for our LinkedIn group, Facebook, Twitter, etc., are all down below.  Click ’em and join, like or follow us as appropriate…and then join us live tonight for our broadcast starting at 9pm.

Don’t forget that you can call in at 313.462.0107 during the show to ask questions or chime in on topics we’re talking about, and you can also hit us on Twitter at @ITintheD.  And then we’ll see you in a couple of weeks over at the Blackfinn…and this Saturday night as well if you can join us for a fun event to help a great cause.

Bob, Dave and Jeff
