10 Days Until The Fun Happens, Live Broadcast Tonight and More for 12/1/2014

Yeah, you read that right – 12/1/2014. It’s officially December already, and no, I have no idea how the heck that happened either.

However, that means we’re only 10 days away from our charity event, and between now and then we’ve got two live broadcasts, we’ve got some reading material for you, a couple good chats going on in our LinkedIn group, we launched a News section of our site, there’s the usual silly stuff on our Facebook page, and more…

DecEventFlyerTestOur next in-person networking event is Thursday, December 11th.

So yes, it’s just 10 short days away.  It’s going to happen at Falling Down Beer Company, we’re working with a 501c3 charitable organization to help make sure local kids in the area have a good holiday season.  All of the details are over at https://itinthed.com/16091/december-2014-charity-event/

Since we were asked, you can donate ahead of time directly at the Michigan Friends of Education – Operation: Kid Equip website: http://operationkidequip.org/ by clicking on the “Donate Now” button on the top right of the page.

We’ll naturally be talking about that, and more, during our live broadcast tonight.

12012014We’re also being joined by two guests talking about the rather cool things they have going on.

Hemingwrite is a pretty cool little gadget for you writers out there, and Woodward Throwbacks had us at “beer carriers”, so we’re really looking forward to hearing more about what both companies are doing.

Not sure how to listen live?  We’ve got instructions for you over here: https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/.  Missed any of our previous episodes?  We’ve got a page for that, too: https://itinthed.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/

Want to know a little more about our weekly show, what it’s all about and why we do it?  Read https://itinthed.com/15982/what-is-the-it-in-the-d-show-detroit-technology-podcast/

If you listened to last weeks’ episode – https://itinthed.com/16109/ep67-internet-advisor-mitechnews/ – then the debut of our News section is of no surprise to you.

mitechLocated in the right rail throughout the site, you’ll find the latest tech headlines from MITechNews.com.

Or if you want to catch a little more than just the headlines, you can hit the News tab in our top navigation to load the News page at https://itinthed.com/news/

In the coming weeks, we’ll be working on syndicating in a “Tech News Minute” or something along those lines into our weekly broadcasts, along with a few other things we have in the works.

2015 is going to be a fun year, folks.  We have a lot of great things coming together for the new year that already have us wondering how in the hell we’re going to pull it all off without screwing up…but like everything we do, we’ll wing it, see what happens, and hope you’ll help us out along the way with feedback and input.

But that’s next year, and we still have the next few weeks of 2014 to survive, so let’s get back to the present.

Blog entries?  Yep, have a few of those:

suck_lessHow Not to Suck at LinkedIn: The 2014 Edition is out at https://itinthed.com/16082/how-not-to-suck-at-linkedin-2014-edition/ …and it should be pretty self-explanatory from the title what it’s about.  What started as an update to an earlier blog entry has become the latest in a series of in-person talks and presentations that we do from time to time, so check it out.

A couple old ones bubbled up as well, including Networking Basics: Some Q&A with an Old Friend based on, well, exactly that – conversations that I had with an old friend of mine about the basics of networking.  It’s over at https://itinthed.com/1986/networking-basics-some-qa-with-an-old-friend/

And then a mea culpa from Bob aptly titled “Drunk Guy” is at https://itinthed.com/86/drunk-guy/

That’s all for this time.  Please make sure you read all about our event next Thursday, the 11th, over at https://itinthed.com/16091/december-2014-charity-event/ and then listen live tonight – https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/

Bob, Dave and Jeff
